Hiking Equipment List
Your hiking equipment will vary depending on the hiker, the
area, and the length of time you will be on the trail. Be sure to read the
hiking safety tips on
the previous page. I would suggest that you make up your own check list to
review each time you hit the trail. Don't be caught short when you need
it the most. The best advice is to just use Common Sense. As one writer put it;
"It may not be your equipment that saves you, it may be your experience,
know-how, and good judgment."
I don't have to tell you, but take the smallest and lightest
items that you can carry and still get the job done.
I found that your kitchen zip-lock plastic bags makes a great
waterproof holder for your items. You can get these in many sizes.
